John W. Albright to William O. Albright, 4 May 1874
May 4 1874

            Dear Brother & Family.
This brings to you the sad Intelligence that our Family numbers one less. Jacob has gone to his long home. he died yesterday morning about daylight. he seemed to be getting better. Saturday Evening he was out on the wood pile full of life, was taken worse yesterday morning and lived only about 15 or 20 minutes.

he bled to death with the piles. There were a combination of Direares, Piles, Gravel.

Liver deranged, lungs affected &c. When he doctored for one the other would be worse. /

he had chills nearly every day for about 4 months, some days he would shake.

But the christians hope points beyond the confines of the tomb.

The rest of us are usually well. I feel a little better again. Hope this will find you all well.
                                                            Your Bro John
