Baltimore Md May 21 1912, 7.20 P.M.
Dear Brother
I received your letter several days ago. I was very glad to hear from you once again, but sorry that you were not in good health, and hope that since the weather has become more settled that you are better, and hope that your health may become very much improved.
I am now attending the General Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church which is held in this City. the first Session was opened last Friday at 10.00 A.M. It will continue all this week, and possibly a day or two next week. I left home last Wednesday, left Gas City at 2.56 P.M. arrived in Baltimore Thursday at 12.05 Noon Eastern time. My home is with Dr Edwin B. Fenby 1223 N. Caroline St. they are typical Southerners, but in Politics he is a Prohibitionist. he can say just as hard things about the corruptness of the / Democratic party as most anyone else.
The other man who is stopping here at the same home (as they have only 2) is J. J. Barge, an attorney, a Lay delegate from Atlanta Georgia. I find him also a real nice man. The people of Baltimore have given a very cordial reception. they give us free entertainment excepting our noon lunch, this is served in the basement of the church and we can make it cost us anywhere from 5c to 50c or more. My lunch to day was, a cup of coffee, deviled crab, and bread and butter, price 15c
It was pretty warm yesterday, and has been quite warm to day.
I preached in one of the M.P. Churches here in the City last Sunday morning and my sermon was well received by both the pastor and people
Charley is still at LaFayette, Daniel is still farming. Grace and the children are still at Rev Husseys / All are well, so far as I know. Emily and I are well as usual. We had a long and severe winter a few days of extremely cold weather. I think now the farmers will have a good oppertunity to get their corn planted, and that crops will be quite good yet.
Wheat in our section of the Country is pretty badly winter killed.
On my way here I came through Harrisburgh Penna
Will try to write you soon again but I want to hear from you often.
As Ever Your Bro John.
