            Dear Brother
it is with pleasure that I seat myself this evening to write a fiew lines to you. I hope this will find you enjoying good health. I do not feel well just now I had the cold and a pain in my side but am geting better the folks about here are all pretty well. Samuel Punchus is dead he was buried two weeks ago. he had the typhoid fever he was sick about two weeks.
 
Jacob Punchus has got his discharge he is in Ohio now with his friends. i seen John Bellows to day in meetin he is well, and is discharged. Zimmermans had a letter from John a / fiew days ago the boys were all well. they expected to a battle thare. Cyrus Luft is dead he had the Fever he died in virginia. one of Mrs. Tregos cousins is in your regiment his name is Therin Corp he is on the Steamer Baltic. whe heard the small pox were in your Brigade three men died that had them if it is so let us know Fred Gorman has sold his farm and bought Jud Johnsons farm he has to pay twenty two hundred dollars for it. and Old Mrs Osborn has sold her farm. Georg Gorman and Jones's suit was tried in the last court George beat him. Jones will have about five hundred dollars cost to pay, turn to No 2 /

            Father has bought a hive of bees he paid five dollars for them he thought he could not put your money out on beter interest they are a working fine. He got them from Wm Fay he has sold his farm and is agoing to move to Illinois.
 
about the weather it has been it was pretty cold and stormy all through march. had some snow last week but it is getting some warmer now. Olin Tippin and Ben Frizle have hired as teamsters to work on the railroad out in Missouria they left here about three weeks ago.

Easter Sunday.
            Dear Brother. I thought I would write a few lines to you and Hopeing they may find you getting better. well I have nothing much to tell you. We are all as well as common. We will have sabbath school again this summer. Jacob is superentendant. this is wrote rather poor and I will tell you the reason. I have not wrote for quite awhile and my hand trembles preety bad. no more

            We would have sent you some dryed fruit of diffrent kinds &c &c but the Express is very high; but if you want any thing of the kind let us know & we will try to send it to you by some means war news is not of much intrest now but yesterday the News was that the Rebel Gurillas got wiped in Kentucky & 1,200 taken Prisners by half of their number of union men our Boys whiped them at sevral places at another place we took 150 prisners 17 waggons & 40 Mules &c / in Virginia the have had sevral skirmishes to & all with honer to our Boys they whiped the Reb Dev Els at evry place & but there has been no very large battle latley; they are very buisey changing prisners at presant & preparing for a big fuss. our Goverment are buisey in capecting all their loose men the diserters &c &c some diserters left Elkhart with Iron Mittens on lately Andy Conner has joind his R. Copperheads are down in the chops at presant & union is par I hope it will remain so the sale of powder & lead is prohibited in North west
