Dear Brother. I thought i would write a few lines to you. We are as well a common.
 
            I hope that these few lines will find you enjoying good health. if you aint able to be on duty mother thinks you had better come home. i believe i have nothing much to write. to day is the last day of our school i guess we will get a present. /
 
it was very cold the first day of this month, and we have had some snow ever since. geo. rigle has got a sore toe he cant hardley get around and ann has got a sore face. and mary has got a sore back. Cyrus will write a few lines. if you please next time you write send me a coppy of Figures. i want to learn to write that way. this is wrote rather poor. from your affectionate Brother John W.
