Joseph J. Reynolds to John Love, 6 November 1863
Chattanooga
Nov. 6. 1863
My dear Love
Your kind letter was duly received am much obliged for your assurance that my friends at home are disposed to be satisfied with my feeble efforts to do my part in the great work now on hand-
You say I am “all right” with Halleck – It may be so but he has not kept his promise with me – I never asked I was glad to hear from you as were all your old acquaintances – they have heard of your great work in the state & have given you credit for it – Indications are that the rebels will try to give Burnside a blow soon – We are opening our communications & getting in better shape have been (entrevous) in a deuced tight place .
My best regards to the Givenman Noble, Hollway, Rev. Stevenson & friends generally Burn this scroll & sometime when I have a little leisure will write you more at length – am very busy –
Remember me to Moms
Ever truly yours
J. J. Reynolds
