Eugenia McDonald to Nettie Howell, 3 May 1887
Mount Vernon B'ks
Alabama
May 3rd
My dear Mrs. Roger,
I wrote to you yesterday and telegraphed to you later in the day, the sad sad news of dear Captain Howells death.
The weather and the distance has decided Emily to place your dear brother in the National Cemetery for the present in hopes from which place later, if desired, he can be re / moved.
He will receive an escort from this post to Mobile and be met there by the National Guard and escorted to their Armory, from which place he will be taken with Military honors.
Nothing has been left undone to show our love and respect for Captain Howell, and I write you this in pure sympathy with your grief and anxiety
Very sincerely
Daisy Sinclair
