Simeon C. Wilkerson to Nancy Bryson, 14 September 1863
Marietta, Ga
Sept 14th /63
My Dear Wife
I will start to my command this evening. I dont know when or where I will be able to find it. the cars ran togather last night above here, and killed some 50 men and wounded something over one hundred more. I learn that I will have to march about thirty miles before I can get to my regt. I dont know when I will be able to write again.
My dear, dear little wife forgive all my past little pettish ways and know that I love you better than I do my own sweet self. My love to mother & respects to father, John & Louis. With much love and many many kisses I am your affect husband in haste
