The State of Texas,
County of Galveston.
Alexander Bunkett, a Privt of Capt. J. L. Smith-Kirby’s Co. “B”, Wilke’s Battalion of Light Artillery, Personally appeared before me, a Justice of the pease of Gt. Co. and being duly Sworn deposeth and sayeth, that on, or about, the 14th day of October, 1863, at Camp Lubbock, Tex. one Mule, the property of the Confederate States, and for which Capt. J. L. Smith Kirby was responsible, did brake out of the Stable and run away, and every Effort on the part of Capt. Kirby or myself, to recover said Mule, has met with unsuccess. This loss was unavoidable on my part or on the part of Capt. Kirby.”
