William H. Bone to Emma J. Bone, 19 June 1865
Crestline Ohio
June 19th 1865.
Dear Sister,
Haveing just received your letter of yesterday and there is a little spare time presents itself this evening I will improve it in giveing you a short answer.
It seems a hard task and realy is a hard one for me to write letters here while all of my comrads are there ahead of me enjoying them selves with those they love most dear, but I hope this will not long be the / case. however I see no prospect of getting out very soon not as soon as the Fourth at the earliest. So all of the boys here are fretting themselves untill they are almost sick about it. I dont let my mind run off with me in that way. I enlisted with Uncle Sam for three years or during the war if not sooner discharged, and if he dont see fit to releas me any sooner than when my three years are out, I shall make the best of it and wait patiently for that happy time.
Whenever any of you see the boys of co H or any that may inquire of me, just give them my kind regards. /
Well it is growing dark and I must hurry through.
I received that $1.50 you sent me. the next letter you send me please send another Dollar and I think that will do for a while at any rate.
I would like to fill my sheet but circumstances will not allow it therefore I shall speedily close hopeing that it will find all of you in good health. it leaves in very good health.
With respect I subscribe myself your
Soldier Brother
Wm. H. Bone.
To E. J. Bone.
Good Night.
