William H. Bone to Emma J. Bone, 10 July 1864
Camp near the Chattahoochee River.
July 10th 1864.

            Dear sister
We are under orders to be ready to march at a moments notice but nevertheless I will try and write you a few words. there has nothing of importance transpired since I wrote to Uncle last thursday I suppose he will tell what we were doing before that. Our corps has been laying in camp since the fourth resting. this morning when it came daylight we began to look for the rebs, but they had taken a hint and pulled up stakes and crossed the river, so that is the cause of us haveing orders to move there has nothing been going on here more than some artilery fireing. while a part of our army was moveing around and croosing the river the rebs got afraid that we might slip up the other side and catch them here. I believe I can say nothing more about our movements at present. My health has been good, so is the health of the Regt good. for fear that you do not get my letter of last week I will speak about a hat for me again. I want a dark colored one. the size is 7 1/8. the Regt has / put in for hats and expect to draw them in a few days. I have nothing more of interest to write I received your letter of June 26th on the forth. Please let me know wheather you or uncles do not get a letter every week and how long it takes them to come home. some of the boys complain that their letters do not go home and what does is a long time going.

Nothing more at present,
Your affectionate Brother
W H Bone. To E J Bone.
