Dear Wife itake this oppertunity to rite afew lines to let you know that iam well and hope you and Lizzie are the same ihave reached the army at last we arived here last night irote two letters sence i heard from you they have had a hard fight with half a mile of here they was fiteing most two week to see who should hold the railroad our folks tore up about fifteen miles of the track and still hold the road
Charlie Butterfield was taken prisoner Henry Littlefield was kiled / Oscar Bolcomb and William Garfield and Mills are here there is fifteen in the Natick Company left George Moulton has not ben to the Company sence he was at home the Soldiers say that he shot his toe himself they said he was not in any fight when they come into battle the first shell that come he run the next they new of him he was in the hospital the Doctor told him he shot himself iwas on the water five days and nights in all it is all still here now we are in the fith army core we dont know how soon we shall leave here the whole rigiment numbers 120 men now / idont think of anything more to rite now rite as soon as you git this and tell me if you got that twenty Dollars that isent to you by Mrs Ferrell
