Dear Wife itake this oppertunity to answer your letter and inform you that iam well and hope you and Lizzie are the same you wanted to know how iliked the officers ilike them first rate our Captain name is Read from Summerville afirst rate man Generel Crawford commands our brigade and Generel Warren the fifh army Core afirst rate man that is the core that / that we belong to you wanted to know how ispent my leisure time what time ihave ispend in Camp and that is not much we are cutting timber now to build winter houses we get a plenty papers to read iwas on picket when ireceived your letter two of us brought in five rebbels that morning you have not rote the prices of provisions iwant you should iwant to know if mr Clark and his boys board their now tell mr Clark ihave done looking / for aletter from him ihave gut to go on guard so icannot stop to rite any more now so good bye
