Washington DC March 27 1864
Dear Sister Harriet
I thought I would write you a few lines to let you know how I am my health is good as it ever was and I hope yours is the same I am about 5 miles out of Washington I am in a camp dubbed camp rendesvous of distribution It is a verry pretty place they is a great many barracks hear I will try and tell you about my journey I had a very good one I left Boston last tuesday about 3 oclock in the afternoon went to Fallriver and took / the boat for Jersey Citty I got their about 1 oclock the next morning we took the cars their and went to Philedepha got to Philedephiha about dark we took the cars their that night and went to Baltimore got their about half past 6 oclock that morning and then we took the cars their and and went to Washington I send my love to all of you and Grandmother to I want you to Direct your letters to Washington DC put on the number of the regiment and the name of the company and put on 24 regiment N V Petersons Mass volenteer I must be a drawing to a close this from your brother
