Bermuda Hundred Va June 27 1864
Dear Sister Harriet
I received your letter this morning I was very glad to hear from you dont know how glad it makes me feel to get a letter from you my health is good as it ever was we have plenty of duty hear now I have to be on picket every other night I am on fatigue to day I came of picket last night the weather is about as hot hear as I ever see it south It is very dry hear we have not had any rain hear for some time I thought / we should have a shower hear yesterday but we did not have any I wish we might have one I think it would make the [?] I received a letter from Unkle William and Charley this morning they both wrote me very good letters I received 2 papers from them yesterday one was the Barre Gazet and the other was the Boston Post I wrote Unkle William a spell ago they was both well they say it was very dry out their I was very glad of that [?] plaster you sent me It will come handy some time Harriet / the next papers you send I want you to send me a good long fish line and 2 or 3 good fish hooks you go to Mr Alonzo Upham and he knows what kinder hooks they are you have him put one on to the line and send one 2 others besides you send them in next papers you send you can send them in a newspaper well enough be sure and send them to me you tell Mr Upham I sent you to him send me small piece of led with it I want you to send me another hand of tobacco and another envelope and a sheet of paper / It makes me mad because you sent my box before I expected it hear before this time you mind what other folks write home to much what dont you mind more what other folks write you then what I write to you when you write I think it is about time for me to stopt writting If you dont mind more what I write to you then what what you do I will stop writting altogether you mind what I tell or I will do as I say If you had minded what I wrote to you my box would have ben hear before this
