Dear Mother, I received your letter you wrote on New years Day I got it last night you dont know how glad I was to hear from you I always like to hear from home mother I am sorry you did not see any of Unkle Otis folks they would have ben glad to see you if they had ben at home mother I am sorry to hear that Grandmother is not so well you tell her I hope she will be / better Mother my wound is gaining every day but I have to lay a bed yet but I am in hopes to be oup after a while I shall keep oup good courage my wound is a filling oup fast ant you glad of that I am It dont pain me much if any Mother I wish I could have ben at home last sunday night and would eat supper with you I would have relished it If I only could ben able to ben at home Is Miss Fiske pretty smart thes days tell her for me I hope / she will get along well with her school and tell her I send my best respects to her I should think she would be glad glad to get rad of Charley Convers he yous to bother her so much I should think you would miss her when she goes home friday nights mother when ever you or Harriet write me a letter I wish you would send me an envelope and a sheet of paper every time you write to me and send me 2 or 3 good pens and some postage stamps / I have not got any envelopes or paper only what I have got in my napsack I ant able to get to that yet I got a letter from George F Wallace yesterday I was very glad to hear from him I think he is a very good fellow that fellow you wanted to see in my ward that day you was down here wants to know how Ant Mary is whether she is sick or not he lives at New Ipswich oup near Fitchburg Mother how does Harriet get along in the store does get along well I hope she does tell her I want her to write to me as often as she can because / I like to have her write to me she is a good writer If she is a mine to write did she direct your letter for you If she did she did not direct it as well as she does sometimes I want you to remember envelopes & paper pens & postage stamps send them to me as soon as you can does the girls skate any I suppose they dont because they is snow on the ice I did not think of that does Mary Hamant come / in to see you very often how is Aunt Anna Is she pretty smart I hope she is tell her I send my best respects to her mother I must be a drawing to a close I want you to answer this letter as soon as you get it you or Harriet answer it I will answer all the letters you will write as long as I am able this from your
