Dear Mother

 

I received your letter to day you wrote me the first of Octtober I was glad to get your letter my health is tiptop and I am glad of it ant you I am in a Fort by the name of Ft Marion they is 3 companys of ours in the fort and the rest of the regiment is in the village I like this place tiptop I tell you if I only had money I would be all right I could buy plenty of fresh fish and oysters and sweet / potatoes thes things are all cheap you can buy a plate of fish and sweet potatoes for 10 cts I want you to send me in your next letter 7 or 8 dollars if you can If you cant send me that send me 5 dollars will you I want you to be sure and send my box as soon as you can the sooner the better send 4 pounds of good butter 2 boxes of figs 3 cans of milk 2 cans of lobsters 1 can of pineapple some envelopes and some good rich cake ½ peck of potatoes send 3 or 4 pounds of sugar we hant ben paid off for most 4 months and I want / some money I dont expect to get a letter from you once in a month because they dont any boat come hear I did not get any papers from you this time why dident you send me some papers I want you to send me some papers as often as you can where is Unkle Otis now I would like to see him Is Grandmother pretty smart now tell her I send my best respects to her and Harriet to and you where is William Reynolds now how is his health now how is Albert Slayton now do you I would like to hear from him if I could I think you have raised a good lot of / potatoes I wish I had some of them to eat and some of them squashes to you wash the potatoes you put in to my box and pack the things closed together as you can you send me some campor gum in my box only a little the time grows shorter that I have got to stay in the army and I am glad of it I tell you who is your Minister now since Mr Fulton has left have they made any brick at the brick yard this year I must be a drawing to a close I want you to answer this letter as soon as you get this
