I received your lettar on the 25 and was glad to hear from you I am well at the present time and hope these few lines will find you in the same I heard bad news from home I heard that Maryall mc Clure and Abigail was maried it it is so I am glad of it I want you to rite and let me now wheather it is so you wanted to now if I wanted you to wait for me that is a hard questen to answer I cant tell wheather I ever will bee home I am in a unsertin place you will have to wait if you want a soldier to see if I come home or not / I live in hops of coming home a gain if I do I intend to git maried I am promiest to now one only I told you and if you want to wait till I come home I will give you the first chanc or get maried like the rest if you want to or dont feel like waiting I cant tell when I bee home soon as I can if I live and ceepe well I have bin in one batle here we just make the rebels git up and scadadle I have saw botes of a cross the river the closted I now of giting shot was tow feet I was in a pit on the river bank one cannon ball struck in the bank and raised me up six inches of the ground
