William G. Gage to Catharine A. Gage, 13 September 1863
Annapolis Md. Sept 13th 1863

Dear Mother.
Your letter of the sixth was received yesterday afternoon.

I am sorry to hear that the last year has been a long anxious year on my account I thought you would get over worring after I had been gone a while.

You said you hoped I would acknowledge my filial obligation's I did not know that I had disregarded them by enlisting you did not say I could not go but after I went to the Rapids you got chicken hearted & wanted me to come home & you have haunted me ever since with your regrets for my going hardly ever telling me any thing else. now I will quit this kind of talk I am sick & tired of talking about this question.

I received a letter Friday from Charley Vorhies he said he was glad I got out as well as I did he also said he expected to go to Philidelphia in a few day's I did suppose his wound to be bad untill you wrote that the bone was fractured. the boys of our company who were taken on the sixth of July said he was only wounded slightly & I supposed he was nearly well untill you wrote. he did not say how near well he was, but said he got a ball through the ankle I got a letter from Clipperton dated the eighth inst. with a recommend for a ferlough enclosed but he said nothing about the trunk he wrote a very kind letter. A great many of the Maine boys have been ferloughed on Friday & the rest are to go on monday morning & the Pensylvania boys who have asked for ferloughs were told by the Major that it would be better to waite & go when they all went. /

I am sory to hear it is so sickly in Saginaw this year I hope you are all well. I am in good health. Love to all.

You Affectionate Son
Glover.
