Camp ner Beulott
Ford December 4th 1862
Dear Sister I take my pen in hand to write you a fiew lines to in form you that I am well and hope these few lines may arive safe and find you the same the companey is out driling and left me here alone I thot I wold try and fech some news from you being that I have written agreat meny / times to you and have receivd no ancer in return I thot you had forgoten me well I will tell you that old morgen found some of ore pickets gards asleep on post and came to them and woke them from their slumber and told them to come with them and rushd to there camp and toak three Regments prisners and / kiling wonded in all 60 of them on the other side I have not herd they ware all new troups and Ohio regments I think that is adisgrase to the western armey and to all ohio troops I say darn all such sleppy headed troops one dosen of such meare raskels as them has caused a thousand poor soldiers to die in the secesh / hands and run off south All sech soldiers as them ought to be taken on to the Cort and kept thare till the wore is over one thing sure they did not get there rifels the renforsements was so close on them that they cold not get away with them I am glad of that I hope that they will keep them till they wake them / oup they never have troubeld ous yet we are laying below them whare they cold atact ous as easey as they cold them We have marcht thru tennessee and the volenteers wold march after ous and wold be attact and some of them kild and we wold march thru safe well I must hurey this thing along for / this is the last letter that I can write in this camp we have got marchen orders and will start for Nashville to morow or next day Jest excuse my skrachers for my pen wont let the ink down I must close this time
