Dear parents
 
                        I received your letter of the 2 inst It found me as you wished and I remain the same and hope these few lines will find you better. I hav no news of importance to wright this morning We hav mooved one mile nerer town. This is the mudiest country that I ever saw. And rains once in evry twenty four hours
 
I wish to know what is the reason that sister does not write I sopose that she has recd my picture I sent it the 31 of last month. I am thrise obliged to you for this paper I cant get this quality of paper in this country / I recd all but the Ps stamps Our Divis is awaiting orders to imbark for Vixburg. The health of the troops is very good considering the state of the climate. I hav had quite a time with my rite ear. It commenced by akeing then broke out on the serfice. It runs sum yet for the presant I will close but remain your
