Camp near Stephensburg Dec 29 1863
Dear Father
Your letter of 16th Dec informing me of the receipt of my letter of the 10th I received some four days ago. I was sorry to here that you had been woried about me on account of not receiving letters regularly from me but it was not my fault as I told you before.
I can scarcely think of any thing to write you now I have commenced.
By the way I see you have gone into partnership with some chap but as I don't know him I won't say any thing about him. The first Cavalry have nearly all reenlisted and are going on ferlough pretty soon probably to-morrow or next day.
There has an order come to Gen Pleasanton's head quarters that there shall be no more ferlough's granted to any except those who re-enlists. /
I enclose a photograph of Gen Killpatrick I give you my word that it is as near lifelike as a picture can be.
You said you judged from my not writing about my health that I was well. I was at that time I have been sick two or three days since but am all right again now.
Did Capt Darling write you that he had promoted me he has not I have been acting as Q.M.Sergt. for over two months & have not received any thing but Corp. pay for it at the same time that there was a place vacant & I could have been put in it as well as not.
I send love to all.
Your affectionate
Son Glover.
