William G. Gage to Catharine A. Gage, 6 October 186X
Camp Kellog Oct. 6.

Dear Mother.
I was very glad to receive your letter.

It makes me feel more less lonesome to receive letters from home. you must all write me as often as posable. you must excuse me for not writeing you often. I do not have much time betwean drill, and when I do get a little time it is very seldom I get a moment by my self.

I have a very poor pen so I dislike to write.

I was very glad to get those papers the Independent & / Enterprise more particularly you nead not send the Detroit papers, as we get them here some times.

Father was about right when he said he thought we were not doing much, but we are drilling regularly now.

There is one thing that that I dislike very much that is the bad company that you have. You must tell Henry to gather a good lot of nuts so that when I come home on furlough that I can have some.

Yours as ever
Wm. G. Gage

Tell Jamie he must be a good boy while I am gone.

I was in hopes we should go to Indiana to get our horses in three or four weeks, but we shall not.

I do not like this place. I wish we were in Detroit.

I wish Wm Ball was here.

Love to all
Frome your son
Wm. Glover. Gage.

P.S. Oct 7th
I received an other letter speaking of my being sick on the other hand I am very well now. I thank you for that basket of things those peaches in particular.
