William G. Gage to DeWitt C. Gage, 15 October 186X
Camp Stoneman Washington Oct 15

            Dear Father.
Your letter of the 9th inst came to hand yesterday morning it was the first I had received in two week's. I received one from you just after I wrote my first from this camp. it contained $3 in money which I am much obliged to you for all though not in nead of it at the time.

You wanted to know what kind of a place Capt. Thompson offered me here it is no place at all if you know what an orderly is you know what he wants of me. I do not want to stay only untill I get over the diarea which I have had for a while back but am geting over now.

There is a good chance for promotion I think in the company now there is no quartermaster sergt & if I was there / I think I should stand a good chance to get it & there are also two duty sergts places vacant & the Capt. promised me one of them when I got back to the company.

I hope the box you sent me will get through all right I wrote to Clipperton about that trunk as much as two weeks ago but have received no answer.

How are you all at home I hope you are well.

My love to you all.

Your Affectionate son
Wm. G. Gage.
