Charleston, S.C., March 14th, 1865.
To
George P. Guerrier,
Q.M. General's Office,
8th Division,
Washington, D.C.
My Dear Sir,
Should any vacancy in the Q.M. Dept come under your notice, perhaps you might forward my name for consideration.
Enclosed are a few approvals during my 3 years Service.
I was previously a Store or Book-Keeper, excepting 15 months, in different capacities, at the Big Falls &c on the Washington Aqueduct, under Mr Talcott—one of General Meigs' Chief Engineers.
Very truly your friend
James Elmsby
2nd Lieut. Co G.
