John M. Pomeroy Statement, 30 July 1866

Philadelphia, July 30th, 1866.
 
                        The New Bounty Law, approved July 28th, 1866, gives additional Bounty, as follows:
 
            All Soldiers who volunteered after April 19th, 1861, and who served three years and were honorably discharged, and received $100 Bounty, are entitled to an additional $100.
 
            Soldiers who volunteered after April 19th, 1861, for three years, but were discharged on account of wounds, are entitled to another $100 Bounty in addition to the $100 already received.
 
            Widows, Fathers and Mothers, or children of the above named classes of soldiers, are entitled to an additional $100 Bounty, and if a Soldier dies after discharge, of injuries received in the service, his heirs can recover $100 Bounty.
 
            Soldiers who volunteered for two years are entitled to $50 Bounty, under the same conditions.
 
            Any Soldier enlisted for less than two years, who was honorably discharged on account of wounds received in the line of duty, is entitled to $50 additional Bounty.
 
            Widows, Children or Parents of Soldiers who volunteered for less than two years, and died in the service of the United States, or of disease contracted, or wounds received while in the service of the United States, are entitled to $50 additional Bounty.
 
            I am prepared to collect thse above Bounty. Will you please request the Discharged Soldiers of your neighborhood to forward me their Discharges, and their cases will receive prompt and careful attention.
 
            Heirs of Soldiers will state to me their cases by letter, giving name of deceased Soldier, his Regiment, date of enlistment, date of death, &c.
 
            The fees, as fixed by Acts of Congress, will be rigidly adhered to.
