Wel tobe i will now write you a few lines whethe you answer them or not now i wrote you a letter while i was at cam Park in Ky i donot know whether you got it or not but maby you did not get it it is a good thing you did not come to the army for we have had some hard times comming over thes big mountains when we would get on top of them we could see the clouds a way down below us Tom McCampbell, oh i forgot to tel you that Thom had got to be a Corporal, so it is Corp McCampbelle wel he got a letter the other day and it said that Sarah Ellen Jenkens eye had gone out and the other one would was almost out to that was a very sad accident shure now tobe i would like to know how you and andy sutton are a getting a long with / there at old spunkey Pint for i never hear from them atall and Id like to hear from that big Beazer, whether he has married Dant Yelton yet or not and i like to hear from how them infernal butternuts boys are a getting along

Wel now dinner is over and i have taken a good smoke now ill finish my letter.
I expect that hen and Jim wishes that they had come along with me but they wouldent come when i wanted them to so now they can just stay at home with their daddyes if they want to but when i get back they had better keep there jaw to themself for the copperheads in the north will have to be killed before this war will be put to an end now write and tel how the my colt looks i want you to take care of it while I am gone and keep him fat id like to know whether Ligle has got wel of his lameness yet I recon you will go to school this winter to Miss Lizzie wont you id like to be at some of them apple cuttings in that neighborhood but i expect that the boys are very scarce now I reccon that you are done sowing wheat before this time Wel good by for this time from
