Wel pap i have just written you a full sheat and i upset my ink on it and had to throw it out of the window but now ill try and write a little more you said that you did not want me to go to the 21^st Regt Wel i did intend to go if we could get transfered from this Regt but i never alowed to go like Oliver Starks did atall that is not my way of doing things i would have written to you about going but if i had i was afraid you would pursuade me out of the notion and i allowed to volenteer first and then write but you need not be afraid of me going for i am away out here in Dixie a long ways from the 21^st the reason that i wanted to go was that the talk was that we were agoing down on the river som where on the border of the state and i did not / want to go there for i tried it once you know and i thought that id rather go at once to the south than to go there but i have had one little trip out here.

 

now you said that you thought i had better stay my time out and then come home satisfied and stay there now you know that this war must be put down and why mightent yore son as well help to do it as any boddy else son Im in for whipping the infernal rebs clear out of the US thats my doctrin now when you write to me write and tel me all the at home about the hogs and cattle horses and evry thing else i believe i have nothing more to write only you need not send me my boots for i will not get them atall you see send me a few postage stamps for i cannot get any here atall tel line and martha that i will write to them the nex time that i write no more at present from yore son
