Vol 2^nd

 

Wel now ill try and write some more me and Tom M^cC & Anderson Green are agoing to have a good dinner we are a making it out of crackers and appels we stew them up to gether but i expect you would think it was a poltice or not fit for a dog to eat but it goes mighty wel for a hungry soldier boy now ill tel you what i had to carry on this march i had my gun and 40 rounds of cartridges my knapsac over coat, woollen blanket / oil blanket and my wearing cloths all in my knapsac you can imagine what a bunch i had besids that we had to carry 3 days rasions in our haversacks which consisted of crackers and beef meat coffee we generly eat our meat up at one meal and then we would have to take the dry crackers but then we had plenty of good coffee and thats more than you have at home the boys bought a chicken but they had to / pay 50 cts for it so you see it is a pretty dear chicken as for monny i have some yet but then i am have only 2 pipes full of tobacco in my pocket & cannot get any more here atall so when that is out ill have to quit the smoking bisness without we move from here. i have 2 postage stamps and when them are out ill have to quit writing or some boddy else will have to pay for the letters they get / when you write to me send me some stamps as i cant get them write and tell me all the news and tel me whether you got the letter that i sent while at camp Park Ky Write and te whether you get any or not but ill write as often as i can some of the boys have got some letters since they came here i am a looking for one evry day so good by for this time
