Camp Near New Baltimore Va
November 13th 1862
 
Dear Parents Brother & sister
I take the pen in hand to address you with a few lines to lett you know that I & Amon are boath well & I hope these few lines will fiend you all injoying the same blessings
 
            Mother are you getting very cold weather yett or much snow I have seen a little snow here & some cold weather not much rain nor mud as yett. the weather here is about like the weather there the last of April or the first of May
 
            Our mail is very iregler at presant there hant been but one mail come in in over a week but it goes out every day 
 
Do you hear any thing from William or Robert now. Mother Amon did not gett the box that you sent to him. When you send a box or any thing by exspress you must allways send it to the place where they person is or the nearest town to them. We have lost our brave mc clelon who once that the armey of the Potomac has so nobley fought under, and now Burnside assumes the command of the grand army. The Boys are all in fine health & loock forward to the coming battle with great anxiety & with the hope of wining the day. I must soon now close for the presant. you must write soon as you gett this Write all the news you can

Sister Kitt I will write a few lines to you to lett you know that I are not agointo write to James again untill he does to me. Kitt you tell him so if you want to. I shall write to William & Robert but not to him untill he answers them I have writen to him. I saw Canetas Shaw yesterday he is well and sends his best respects to you & all his friends at home. I send my best respects to you & all the rest

            Mother Jacob has writen all the news but I thank I would write a few lines to lett you know that the rebbs hant gott me yett and / that aint all I dont carculate thay will. Mother I want you to be shour and nott send any thing untill I send for it for I I dont know whare we will bee. Kitt when did you hear from william and Robbert the last letter I had from them thay said that thay had had fit have had a fight at black water Kitt you must excuse me for riting so poor for I had a poor pen and it would not write a tall I will close sono by saying this leavs me well and hope it will find you the same so good By
