good after noon to you my dear perunts i once mor sett my salf down to ancer your kind and walkom leter that we reseved from you last nite and i was very hapy to hear from you and to heer that you was all wal at home wal mother we have fierd our cannons to day for the furst time sents we have been heer in the forte we don wal and no axtents hapund among us mother you said in your leter that the folks up thir thought that the war wood soon end wal mother i think that it will my salf 
 
wal father robert wanted me to tell you that he had sent you a paper and this is a haier lock in it but i dont wither he give it to you or not but i will ask him when he coms in wal father how do you like to take car of so meny grass widows does your gran childern dother you or not wal i will draw to a close for this time so good after noon to you all this is from your
