good afternoon to you my dear Wife and childern i once mor take my pen in hand to ancer your kind and walkom leter that i reseved to day i was very hapy to heare from you and to heare that you was all wal we ar both wal and in joying good halt and all rite yet elianor you said in your leter that you heard that we had a fite Wal i will tell you all a bout it we have not had a fite yet but the rebels com here too weaks a go last saderday and have bin plaen a round here every sence and they have bin / a fiering on our lines all the time but have not dun mutch dameg yet they have wonded sum of our men a most all of them was a flesh wond i dont no of but too bein kiled that was a ordle in roberts compney and a corpel in my compney elianor you must not greave your salf for i think that i shall com out all rite yet for i have lurnt to dodge the bulits i have seen too men wonded wal Elianor i cant think of any mor to rite so i will draw to a close and rite a few lines to mother so good eveing to you all for this time rite often as you can /
