            Dear Parents
I once more take my pen to adress you with a few lines. Your kind letter came to hand a few days since but have not had opertunity of answering it untill now. I came in from picket this morning had a pritty goo quiet time of it there was not any fireing on the lines.

There is not as meny Diserters comeing now as there has been along back. I have not herd any thing from William or Robert in a long time. But by the papers there is no chance of hearing from them for they are so far from any comunications for them to send out mail

Mother you need not wory yourself about our safty for I dont think I shall expose myself unnesesary to the Rebels / fire for I am to old a Soldier for it.

Mother in regard to them writing I want you to quire Amon a Deed & take a morgage on the place. he is to have three years to pay for it. Give the deed in my name just the same as if I was there to do the buisness.

I cant write but a little to night as I am pretty slepy & cant think of any think which would be very interesting to you.

I hope you will understand how them papers are to be made out. I want you to do it the same as if he was not any conection to me although I shall give him a better chance than I would a stranger

You must excuse this short & hasty writen note

I Remain your
Affectionate Son
