Dear Sir
Being a poor widow woman and having a son held as Prisoner of war by the enemy at Savahna, Ga. since the Battle at Gettysburg, July 1863, I take the liberty of addressing you in the hope that you might exercise your influence to have the same exchanged as I am mainly dependent on him for support. Enclosed you will find a letter addressed to him, which you be will so kind as to forward. Should it be in your power to do something towards the release of my son, Frz. Irsch, Capt. 45th R. N.Y.Vol. you will much oblige and relief
