Maria A. Edwards (maiden name: Mason) was born around 1828 in Maine to Ayers Mason. Her father was a farmer who owned $7,000 of real estate and $1,500 of personal property by 1860. She married Clark S. Edwards, and they had at least seven children: Charles, born around 1851; Ellen, born around 1853; Waldo, born around 1855; Agnes, born around 1857; Herbert, born around 1860; Fred, born around 1866; and Delmer, born around 1868. They lived in Bethel, Maine, and her husband worked as a trader. By 1850, they owned $500 of real estate. Two decades later, they owned $3,000 of real estate and $960 of personal property. She died in Bethel on March 6, 1885.
