Corinth Miss. May 11 1862

My Dear Wife
I have writen about ten or twelve letters and have recd two I have but ten or fifteen minutes to write in now I have an opportunity of sending my letter by the hand of a congress man from Texas there is nothing of importance to write We have been here two weeks looking every day for a battle We came very near being in one day before yesterday one brigade had a little fight with them and whiped them we got on the battle field time enough to get some of their tricks I got myself a good military coat & blanket and our boys got several diferent things too tedious to mension.

We have not found Will yet but from what I can learn he is still alive Jim has got a transfer to our Company and is enjoying health All the boys are well.

We are forced by congress to go in for two more years but I think we will be at home before the expiration of one year I must bring my letter to a close as Mr Sexton is now starting

May God bless and preserve you is my prayer

Write to me often as you posibly can whether I get them or not I would like and could write more had I time

It is almost useless to write now to send by mail across the Mississippi nothing more but remain your affectionate husband until death
