Dear Brother
You will undoubtedly be a little surprised at receiving this poorly scratched letter from me, but is the best I can do for the present & I trust you will accept it as well ment though mutilated in form. For nearly a week I have put off writing home day after day thinking the next day I would be in a better condition for writing, but as yet it has been to no avail. I am I will tell you what is the trouble with me. About 8 or 10 days ago I felt a soreness under my right arm. Soon there came a bump / has continued to increase in size & soreness untill it has grown into an abcess. It being directly in the joint where the nerves of that side consentrate it is very painfull. For several nights I have been unable to get much sleep. I am writing this with my left hand but it is so unstrung that I have no controll over it. My health otherwise is good

I would like to write more but cannot this time. I will write again soon

& wish to be remembered to all the family & remain

Your Aff. Brother
David
