Dear Sister
I take my pen to write you a few lines. I have received no answer to my last but I presume it was owing to some mistake. I should like to hear from my relatives but some of them do not write to me. I suppose they dont like my occupation. But as far as I am concerned I dont fret about it. I have got along very well. I have been here six months. I belong to the Permanent Party at this Post, a company of picked men. / We have comfortable quarters and but little duty to do. We drill 2 hours each day as Light Infantry which is a very interesting drill and well calculated to develop a man's physical strength.

There has been a good many men here since I came here There has 400 Recruits left since the first of April.

I should like to hear from you as soon as convenient

I Remain
yours &c &c
