Gabriella Conaroe to Friend, 9 October 1855
Oct 9th 1855

Friend C I have at last time to write you a few words thinking that perhaps you would forget me if i did not I have spent the time quite pleasant since i saw you and suppose you have too friend Taffe has been teling me some hard tales on you he said he saw you going a sparking and thought I ought not to allow it I told him that it did not trouble me for there was plenty of bachelors yet I was at the fair last thursday and enjoyed myself verry well and saw quite a number of my old friends and formed the acquaitance of several also took dinner with Mr Dawson a valued bachelor friend of mine Albert left the colege last friday the unpleasantness of the day prevented us saying farewell i think we shall miss his company especialy Bet I went to church last sunday for the first time in two month and have been a better girl ever since Friend Pugh called the next Sunday eavening after you was here but i had promised to take care of a sick lady that night and he left in rather an unpleasant humor i think but i cared not I have had quite a conversation with Mr Connaroe since i saw you and think he / has improved very much since i last saw him

Apple pairings has been the order of the eavening for the last two weeks i have not visited any of them and cannot say how they go off Your friend Dunn was down last sunday and took dinner with us we had a lot of company and he did not have the opportunity of pictureing you off in glowing collors as usual I heard Bet say that she was going to be at the state fair the second day and was wishing she would see you there I suppose she has something to tell you of her birds flight west Carry says that if Martin does not call soon she intends to dress in green so that her friends will know she is forsaken I had the pleasure last week to hear that you was to be maried in this month to a lady in Clermont if so i wish you a pleasant honey moon and pleasure through life So [ink blot] one Oclock
