Brother wee have arived in the land of dixie we had a hard march of it we arived in Jefersonville about 10 yesterday and the boys formed line and marched down to the river took passag for Louisville and then they marched five / miles eas of Louisville and encamped on as beautifull a hill side as I ever seen an on a large farm I was left behind to guard our bagage and I stayed in Jefersonville untill about 4 Oclock and we loaded our bagage and drove too the river took passage on board of a steamer and went to Louisville and then wee had a along drive in the / dust and we arived in camp about sundown Henry Blackwell left us in Jefersonville and he has not been heared from since and he has been marke down as a deserter and the Colonel said that he would m must be bought to his quarters and he
our tent is on the hill where it is so steep that this morning the boys was too deep on the lower side of the tent /
I have very sore eyes to day the sinders from the enginen blowed back in them Israel wright as soon as you can direct your letter to Fergusons Company
