Dear Sister I seat my self to wright afew lines to let you now that I am well and hope those few lines will find you all well at home we have had a bad time of it for the last two weeks it has rained all most every day for three weeks and the mud is shoe mouth deep all over the camp well Gabe I have got enough of fighting I dont never want to see an other / batle fought I would like to see this war brought to a close some way or other before long for I am tired of it I have be gun to think that you have forgoten me I have not got a leter from you for so long I must come to a close so no more you must excuse those few lines for I have to gow on drill

Israel I expect you think I have forgoten you but it is not so I think of you more of you more than any one of the family I ought to have answered the leter you rote to me sooner but I have had no time to wright Idie you must take good care of the turkey and feed him well untill I come home but I am am afraid it will be a long time before I will get to come home I must close so no more at present
