William H. Speer to Sandford Speer, 4 June 1863
7th Ind. Vols.
June 4th 1863

Brother,
This morning at 2 A.M. our whole Corps were ordered up and to be ready to march at daylight.

At the appointed hour the wagons were loaded, knapsacks packed, and we were ready to march at a moments warning. In this position we remained until about ten O'clock, when the order was countermanded, and we again put up our tents.

Where we intended to go remains to us a mystery. Some say one place, and some another. But the general opinion was that we were going / to the Western Army.

If we go there we will probably pass through Cincinnati. If we start to move, I will write to you as soon as possible, and let you know all about it.

Henry & I are both in very good health. I do not intend this as a letter. But please write often and I will do the same.

Your Brother
Harry
