Dear Sister
I take my pen in hand to let you know how I am getting along through this wourld of sin and war I am glad to inform you that I am enjoying the best of health on of Gods great blesings Carroll he is wel and hearty this morning the rest of the boys ar wel Sister you must excuse that letter or peas of a letter that I sent by Marion for I did not have time to say nothing hardly I m was sorry that I could not get to write enny more but you will excuse me. Sister I was on picket alday yestarday that beautiful sabbat day and I had to stand with some fellows that I did not know and it seamed like the longest day I ever spent so I didnot get to go to meting and I didnot get in in time for prare meting and if I had it would of ben all the same for their was dressparade and we did not get to have meting the expedition that left hear ges about a month ago has returned and they destroyed agreat deal of rebble property and / negroes I never saw the like in my life as come in with them hills and hollars was alive with them and the brought in some prisnors but I dont know how meny they burnt 24 locomotives and at Canton in this state and they tore up the railroads and burnt houses and infact destroy evry thing in their way O! what a hard march we mised by the smalpox being in our Regmt but we lost some men by it our drum magor died.
well Sister I saw agood time on the expedition that went down the river Sister I would like the best in the wourld to see you and dear little Viola. I am so proud to hear that she is getting wel Sister you said for me to kiss Carroll for you and I did so him and I sees some good times well I must close pretty soon Sister I am getting anxious to get a leter from you O yes sister kiss sweet Viola for me give my best respects to your father and mother and the rest of the connection tell them that I would be glad to get a letter from them I wrote a letter to Ellie the other day and when you go home you can tell her to let you see it Ellie wa is a girl that I always loved and respected I will close by saing for you to write soon sister remember me at a throne of grase let us live so that if we never meat on earth that we may meat in heaven whare we wil meat our dear little sisters O pray for me sister that I may hold out faithful Orson to Sister
