                                                Your letter of this present date is just received. Governer Serra is surely laboring under some delusion about having demanded deserters from here. I have received no communication whatever from him since his reply to my despatch reguarding the forced loan, and there is no other authority on which he can properly under the treaty make requisition or which has power to deliver.
 
            Moreover deserters are not reclaimed under the treaty. there is certainly some mistake and I have therefore made a very temperate request that Trevino be set at liberty, and I have no doubt it will be complied with
