Well Is I thought I would write to you to night from our new home in the sunny South. we have been here one week to night. Our goods has not arrived yet, consequently we are boarding but we will go to housekeeping next week bed or no bed. I still like this country better than old Hoosier. we have plenty of work on hand about 3 months sawing ahead six if we want it.

we have a Hook & Ladder Fire Company here who has a Ball on hand to night & a New Orleans Band / I had an invitation to attend, but as I belong to Church I thought it did not become me to go I have engaged for you one of the sweetest girls for you in this country the Landlords daughter Miss Molie Decell. Oh that nice little foot & ankle black eye moderately full brested & about wide anough across the bottom part of her body, anough for any reasonable man I told her gave her as near your discription as I could without takeing your measure to make it plain I told her you was well ballanced. She would be on it I believe / if she was maried. 'Ali' she is delicate. Strathmans cooking is no comparison. I am hapy to say to you that my boy Isreal is doing well as far as can be assertained Kate forgot to tell you to get her 1½ yds red flannel before she left but I reckon I will have to furnish it & charge it up to you "allright" "All right" its all in the family

Is I want you to get word to J. H. Harris tell him that I want him in case he has not already located in case he aspires to the lumber trade also I would like George Craig to come down here if he will come I can get him a free pass if he will bring my horse & one that Father Yoke / proposes to give us also Hills buggy in case it is not sold by the 1st of April or if we do not ship either he can get here on half fare by applying to the Emigrant Aid Society which he can find prehaps in Indianapolis if not there he can in Louisville. Also every body else who wishes to emigrate south to labour there is one train pr week passes from Chicago Ill through Indianapolis south called the Emigrant train. write to me give Stratman my never dying love. I would like to get a letter from him

Yours truly      L Manken
