Description

The former supper club was located at 114-16 Merrick Blvd., St. Albans (now Jamaica, Queens) in New York. There are no known photographs of how it may have looked before October 2024. Currently, the site houses an electrical supply store, one of several businesses in a row of attached one-story buildings. The building has four fixed pane windows in the center flanked by glass doors at either end. All of the glass surfaces are covered in product advertisements and business signage. A rectangle store sign is above the windows and doors in bold red and black ombre font reading “Attocs Electrical Supply.”

Detailed History

In 1935, a license to sell beer was issued for the address, which likely also included residential units. In 1949, it was reported in the Long Island Star Journal that a diplomat, Herbert Gordon, was reassigned from Australia to Taipei. Gordon’s address was the same as the Bonvivani Supper Club’s. This is also the same site as Mandalay #5873. Presently, the site is Attocs Electrical Supply Store. It is possible that this address once housed another establishment listed in the Green Book from 1953-1955, a tavern named Mandalay.
