Detailed History
It was also known as Cassius Bar and was located here from 1958-1983. The previous location was 207 3rd Street South. Anthony Brutus "A.B." Cassius was active in the local labor movement and the fight for fair wages. He organized the all-Black waiters' union at the Curtis Hotel. He was the first Black man to secure a full liquor license from the City of Minneapolis. He was known as the Mayor of Southside Minneapolis. The building was demolished circa 2000.
