Detailed History
Walter Levin was Black, born in South Carolina in 1900, and by the time of the 1920 US census he had moved to Hackensack NJ. He worked at a service station there at "Five Points", and later purchased and operated his own service station (location not noted) in Hackensack for over 27 years. His obituary noted he was a member of the Varick Memorial AME Zion church in Hackensack. (The Record, 23 June 62, p. 6).
