Detailed History

The first entry for the business in historical newspapers is from 1899, but the historical building permit index indicates it was built before 1885. It was demolished between 1957-1966 for a parking lot. Newspaper articles in the Star Tribune archives describe the hotel as "ill-reputed" and noted that J. Stanley Brown (a mobster) owned it as of 1952. Other Star Tribune archived articles also reported on various incidents that occurred.

The building was demolished circa 1960 and became a parking lot. The residential tower now on the site was built in 2014.
