Description
Two story dwelling with wood covered roof with wood shingles. On the front of the building, there is an open frame porch, one story in height, with composition roof. On the west side of Spring Street between Genesee and Sycamore. Jessie Davis ran Jessie’s beauty shop out of her home, on the west side of Spring Street between Genesee and Sycamore. It was a Black woman owned business in Buffalo’s east side African American community. 1940 Census shows a Mae Baker (possibly owner of La Mae) as a lodger in the Davis home.
