Description
Based on the review of the 1914-1951 Sanborn Insurance Company Map Sheet 206, 1602 McCulloh Street was a three-story three-bay building with a brick façade. Other houses on the block retain the arched entrance with side passage with rooms on the opposite side. An Afro-American Newspaper article "What the Other Fellow Says" from Octuber 17, 1942 P. 20, Mrs. Hall owned and managed the hotel which had nineteen rooms, which were described as "outside" rooms because each had access to sunlight.
Detailed History
Sarah E. Hall is listed in the 1940 Baltimore C&P Telephone Directory as the Manager of the Majestic Hotel, and the 1940 Census also lists her as the owner.
